Lakers Part Ways With Head Coach Darvin Ham

The Los Angeles Lakers have parted ways with coach Darvin Ham, and sources tell me and @jovanbuha an extensive search will commence soon, with candidates such as Mike Budenholzer, Kenny Atkinson, JJ Redick and, if he becomes available, Ty Lue among others.

The Lakers have parted ways with the entire coaching staff beyond Darvin Ham, sources told ESPN, including Phil Handy - who coached under both Ham and Frank Vogel in L.A. The L.A. Times was first to report.

Great organizations have systematic accountability, consistency and don’t scapegoat individuals, especially those whose responsibility is limited. The Lakers have had 7 coaches in the last 15 years. None have survived more than two seasons. That’s not a recipe for greatness.

The Los Angeles Lakers fired head coach Darvin Ham on Friday after two seasons and a 90-74 regular-season record. The Lakers finished the regular season with a 47-35 mark, good enough for only an eighth-place finish in the Western Conference.
