While there's no concrete evidence of a romantic involvement between the two pop stars, the chemistry between Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande has been palpable. Their on-stage interactions and a nearly shared kiss in 2015 sparked rumours, giving rise to the possibility of a budding romance.

She was spotted embracing a man towards the end of the video, and a couple of seconds later the man was revealed to be Dalton Gomez, a real estate agent who eventually became Grande's now ex-husband. Bieber also posted a lyric video with an animation of the house drawn in the cover.

"Rain on Me" was released by Interscope Records as the album's second single on May 22, 2020. Music critics lauded the singers' vocals as well as the song's message.
