Antonio Romo was born on April 21, 1980, in San Diego, California. His father came from a Mexican American family and worked in construction. His mother worked in a grocery store. Romo spent most of his childhood in southern Wisconsin, where he became a Green Bay Packers fan.

Early life and Joan Jakubowski. A "Navy brat", he was born while his father was stationed at the San Diego U.S. Naval Base. The Romos later returned to Burlington, Wisconsin, where Ramiro worked as a carpenter and construction worker and Joan worked as a grocery store clerk.

Ramiro Sr. was born in Múzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico, and moved to the U.S. when he was a teenager before settling in Racine, Wis., where he met his wife. "It's pretty neat how they grew up, how they came into this country and how they instilled a lot of our family values," Ramiro said.
