Rep. Byron Donalds made the ignorant observation that Black people were better off under Jim Crow. Fact check.

I grew up in the Jim Crow era. I went to school in the Jim Crow era. I traveled in the Jim Crow era. I know what life was like under Jim Crow. For one of my colleagues to say life is worse now than under Jim Crow is absolutely absurd and unconscionable.

For Byron Donalds to say/imply that the Black family was stronger under Jim Crow - is a Jim Crow lie. in 1959, the Black poverty rate was 55.1%! Jim Crow was hell, not a golden era, which is why Black people, regardless if they were Dem or Repub fought to end it. Facts below:

Byron Donalds would take us back to this, the anti-democratic American past. In Jim Crow Mississippi several counties had not a single Black person voting. This is in 1946, right after we "made the world safe for democracy." Not ONE Black voter!
