It is a gritty, grubby, way-honest, depiction of life as a restaurant worker that tells of sex, drugs, and cooking, at a level of which many of us would not dream. At least, most of us wouldn't imagine that the life in restaurant kitchens is really the way this book describes it.

1. Cervejaria Ramiro. At Cervejaria Ramiro, Bourdain's food is almost entirely focused on the bounty of the sea. He enjoys percebes (gooseneck barnacles), langoustines, clams, sapateira (crab) with wine, and giant camarões (tiger prawns), paired with a side of Sagres beer.
