The two were neighbors until 1988, when Savage, now 33, moved from a suburb of Chicago to Los Angeles after winning the role of Kevin Arnold on the nostalgic television show. Eleven years later, the two met up at his birthday party. Stone, a commercial real estate agent, is 28.

Savage was first sued by a costumer who worked with him during the final season of the original “Wonder Years.” The actor was 16 at the time, and Monique Long accused both him and Jason Hervey, who was 18 and played big brother Wayne Arnold on the show, of verbally and sexually harassing her daily.

In the end, the case was settled out of court with Savage stating that he was "completely exonerated" and adding that it was a "terrible experience". In January 2018, Alley Mills said that a sexual harassment lawsuit against Savage and Hervey was a significant factor in the show's cancellation.
