Bubba Watson disclosed that his move to LIV Golf reportedly involved a substantial sum, approximately $50 million. This move was part of LIV Golf's strategy to entice top players with lucrative sign-on fees in a bid to bolster the league's roster.

However, Watson has been recovering from a torn meniscus and has missed the majority of 2022. He won't tee it up this year and wants “to be 100%” before making his debut in 2023. Now, less than two weeks later, Watson has announced on social media that he has resigned from the PGA Tour.

In March 2012, one week after a potential adoption fell through at the last moment, Watson and his wife adopted a one-month-old baby boy named Caleb. In late 2014, the Watsons adopted a baby girl. Watson is a member of the "Golf Boys", a boy band consisting of Watson, Ben Crane, Rickie Fowler, and Hunter Mahan.

The two-time Masters winner required surgery last June, following the PGA Championship at Southern Hills, to fix a torn meniscus. While sidelined, Watson made news by joining LIV Golf, working as a non-playing captain of the Niblicks team and an on-course reporter for the final five events of LIV's inaugural season.
